has anyone had experince removing the lifter out of the head on a 2.3 litre ford,I was told that the tit on the lifter was to be threaded and a zerk fitting placed and pumped with grease till it backs out.I have looked on the net and seen no reference to this, and the chilton book does no mention anything at all about this.I have a few loose rockers so the valve train is noisy when cold ,the cam is got some wear but I think I will try to replace lifters and rockers to quite down the racket.any other ideas?

I'm not familiar with this engine, however many overhead cam engines use shims to adjust the lifters, or adjustments on the rockers. I'll check with a few mechanic friends and see what's up. What year?

Stripped something….
Like cross-threaded and over-torqued

well the truck is a 86 the original engine was a 2.0 there was a blowed up 80 mustang 2.3 in it when I got it ,I traded out some backhoe work for a 90 mustang 2.3 put it in and the engine has very good oil pressure .so I took the 80 carb, manifolds and other assorted parts and got the engine running well it is just the lifter noise that I want to take care of altho maybe I should just run it till it pukes.
