I have an LW-7 BH and have a problem with the valve that controls curl. The bucket will curl closed but will not open up now.
When I push the control rod left there is very little movement until the
rod stops. While moving the control rod right there seems to be
complete movement of the rod but the valve seems to be chattering, without uncurling the bucket.
Anybody have any Ideas?? Thanks Mike -

Hey Mike,
First thing I would do is to remove the top cover plate of the console and check the valve handle linkage. These are multi-function valve stacks (joy sticks).
If all appears to be normal then you most likely have debris jammed in the valve spool, which will require dissasembly. Has the hydraulic system been cleaned and flushed out? What oil are you using in it?
The chattering you hear may be the relief valve.

Thanks Bob I”ll check for debris in the valve assembly. The joy sticks check out ok. Mike

Checked it a little closer and noticed a leak coming from a small hole in the bottom of the spool valve body. There are two allens in the bottom that holds a small plate that the hole is in. Still disassembling…………..

I guess I should clarify an earlier statement I made about the “multi-function” valve stack. They are not a true joystick in that they will not perform more than one function at a time. They won't. That's why the valve handles are in slots in the console cover. To upgrade to a true multi-function joystick Prince valve stack costs around $1,800.00. Just one of the reasons the Chinese hoes are inexpensive.

Here is a picture of the swing spool assembly on my JW03 backhoe if that helps you.

Thanks Ron that's what I needed to see. Yours is pretty much identical. There is a flat washer on the bottom of the assembly just above the top spring keeper. Then located on top of the flat washer are the o-ring and a nylon ring. I was concerned there was a heavier rubber washer as well between the top spring keeper and the flat washer that may have dropped out when I took it apart. Mike

It would be a good idea to remove the cap and check that bolt on the rest of them. That valve assembly looks very similar to the two valves on the Chinese loader, my curl valve for the loader had your problem, just not to the point of falling out. It caused failure of the curl function before it had the chance to completely fall out.
