650 hours on the tractor and just noticed engine oil dripping from the tractor onto the snow. Jumped down and had a look, coming from the hydraulic pump where the two cases join. I remember reading some posts about this so I guess I have blown the seal. Hydraulics are still working and engine sump has about a quart of extra oil in it. Any tricks or suggestions for seal replacement once I get my hands on one?

I'm not sure you have a blown seal. If you did I think there would be more extra oil in the pan than one quart. Also, it may be that only the mounting gasket is leaking.

I just put a ratchet on the mounting bolts, one was quite loose and matched where the oil was dripping from. Sounds like you are right. I topped off the hydraulic fluid with about a quart and a half. Maybe I'm getting off easy and just have a gasket to repair.

Thanks Carl, you were bang on. Both mounting bolts needed tightening, one more so than the other. The leak has stopped.

Highlights the need to go over these machines regularly, and check for loose or missing bolts and nuts.  Just might save you from a major, expensive breakdown.
