So the other day I learned my tractor had a decompression arm, but is not functional at the dash board because the shuttle shift interferes with the lever mechanism.  Well tonight I pulled the arm on the decompression lever at the valve cover and cranked the engine, seemed not different than before I new the thing existed.  Then I tried to start the tractor with the decompression lever fully engaged.  Not easy when you have to pull the lever, step on the clutch pedal and turn the switch all at the same time.  Guess what the tractor started and ran just fine.  Is this normal, seems to me the engine should not run if the decompression system is engaged.

        Thanks

If you want to pursue this further, I suggest removing the valve cover and inspect the rocker shaft mechanism.

Just waiting for the valve cover gaskets from Tommy and I will take a look.  Figured I would do that at the same time I retorqued the head bolts.

            thanks
