I need to replace my 2nd shaft on a Jinma 284.  The splines have worn down so that the sliding sleeve (already have replace shift lump and will replace sleeve as well) will no longer engage the PTO.  I have the shift gear box off and have taken the back bearing cover off.  Does the bearing come out with the shaft?  And do you have to do something with all the PTO speed geering, etc. I don't have a ring spreader so I haven't taken the ring off that appears to be holding the bearings in place.  Any help on removal instructions.  Thanks.

OK.  I got the shaft out, but now the sliding sleeve that engages the PTO by way of the shift lump appears to be blocked by the large gear just to the left (looking from the back of the tractor).  Its close, but I can't slide the sleeve off to replace it because of hitting that gear.  Any experience out there getting it off.  Thanks.

The large gear will turn as you roll the tractor backwards ,as you are pushing the spline sleeve off it will go by it then just keep pressure on it as you roll the tractor back

That was the only way my inexperienced mind could figure out as well.  Glad you confirmed it Tommy.  I had to yank mine forward and it popped off using a long screwdriver and bungie to provide the pressure.  Of course then I forgot to wire it up so it wouldn't fall into transmission box.  Spent the next hour fishing it out.  Glad America's Funniest Videos are not around when I'm working on things!
