I just bought a speeco splitter. It has an open center valve in it, but came with a closed center valve also. What are the applications pertaining to a closed center valve?

Hooked the splitter up today, so the open center valve is right. The book showed the pressure and return hook-ups backwards. Once I swapped them the valves worked properly. I split some wood with ease that my gas engine splitter wouldn't touch. Real happy with this!

After I ran the splitter a while I checked the hydraulic box level and had to add a gallon. It was full before I started, was surprised at how much it took to prime the splitter.

This splitter is worth every penny, of course my speeco gas engine splitter I bought in 1980 has more than paid for itself. My son came over with a full truck load of knarly wood. I split the whole truck load with the 3pt splitter in 15 minutes. I went out the next day and split all next years wood in 4hrs. Some pieces were 4ft in diameter and others my other splitter wouldn't touch, 4 to 5 ft tall by 120 ft run. This is really nice!

The ground firmed up so I got the splitter back out.

That thing is a beast! Does it have a wedge on the base too?

The base is a flat plate with three nubbins. It'll go vertical or horizontal. I've put some knarly pieces on it and it goes thru it like butter. I put some 4ft diameter pieces in it split it in half. It has an automatic return and kickout and there are two small arms on the cylinder end that will strip off any pieces that stick on the wedge. I run the tractor on 1000 rpm and it'll go thru anything. Now stackings more work than splitting.  I bought it at Rural King on sale for $600.00, my little 3.5 horse gas splitter I paid $750.00 for in 1980 and this will work circles around it.

Now you need a machine that will do the stacking. roflmao

That sounds like a good strategy to me. The last time I split wood the grandson helped me stack, but I think there was an alterior motive. I picked the wife up a 6 wheel gas golf cart with a dump bed and he would load it and drive it to where I stack the fire wood. The wife says to me “Hey did you get that for me or you”. I told her to talk to the grandson.
