Y385T injector….see my finger at the right? Is that the oil service/dipstick? I can't get that sucker off. It will spin around, but won't pop off. Am I on the right track? I need to get oil in that thing.

        Thank you

Mine (do not know if same model, but looks similar), is not a dipstick.  It is a “breather” that is on a short threaded pipe that screws into the injector resevoir body.  I have always just unscrewed the “breather” and it all unscrewed as one piece, leaving a hole where oil can be added.

A screw plug on the side is removed, and oil is added above until oil starts to run out the side plug hole.  That is how I understand things.

              Thank you Jmayo and Ron.

Ron, the picture shows the cap as vent and fill cap.  Other than spinning left and right I can get no motion up and down to remove. Have you ever removed one? Is the cap supposed pop up or unscrew or? I need to know before I put some real muscle into it. Don't want to break it.

              Thanks

Of course its packed with dirt up around it. I've made a little tool to get up around it and scrape it out, but its still just spinning. Its a vent so I don't want to use water.

Been looking at picks of new ones. Looks like it is a nut cap. The vent is the top part, nut on the bottom. Will try that.

Ok. Nut cap. Got it filled up. Definitely needed oil. Running better. Still rough in the higher RPMs but not too bad. Injectors need cleaning next. Thx

Hope you didn't over fill it. Only fill to the tattletale 6 mm bolt on the side.

Ok. I did fill passed that point and the overflow is spitting some out. And, its not running that good either. Oil in the gas?

                            You’re using gas???

No no no. Not gas.  I think I overfilled the oil after someone told me to just “fill it till it runs out”…..I didn't know about the overflow down below, I thought they meant the filler port so I put in about 1/2 a quart. Now, some oil did drip out of the little overflow banjo tube (plastic cover off), but not nearly the excess amount I put in. I ran the tractor for a couple of hours. Then I opened the filler cap again and dipsticked it with a little screwdriver and its all the way down to 1/2 an inch. Where did all that oil go? I opened the overflow banjo nut this morning and nothing came out.

My real question is….could that excess oil have mixed with the gas going thru the injector pump?? The engine is running rough and I'm thinking injectors are gummed up.

Not the banjo bolt! The banjo bolts are fuel lines.
There is a small 6 mm bolt about halfway down on the side!
And don’t use gas, use diesel fuel.
You really need to familiarize yourself with the owners manual.

Bob is correct. You need to stop what you're doing and at the very least have a diesel mechanic go over the engine and fuel injection pump with you before you do something you will regret, if you haven't done so already.
