well I would first look at the oil to see if it is contaminated, but you need to determine that the pump is not dead heading, there has been many problems with the factory quick disconnects and the loader joysticks, it would not hurt to have a pressure gauge mounted somewhere until the problem is corrected. I do not have a jimma so someone who has one can better tell you where it is easiest to access a point in the system.

We mount the hydraulic pressure gauges either right on the pressure line going into the loader valve, or make a setup with quick disconnects and put it inline where the pressure line hooks to the loader quick connect. Like David said, the quick disconnects have been known to cause problems on these tractors, even taken out quite a few pumps. The first step I would take is changing the hydraulic filter. That will sometimes fix problems like you are having. Also what fluid are you running?

I very much believe the tractor needs new fluid. So with loss of viscosity, age, dirt work and dirty foamy fluids. I think it does not matter what type of fluid I used… The question would not be, what would be the replacement fluid. (See what I mean)… Right now, nothing but trouble and zombies are in the mechanical devices. I have assessed that all the main pumps… are working. There is an adventure going on, the tractor is in Buchannan, Virginia, as I had an accident on 581. Those guys working in the garage are all tractor boys and one guy told me he would clean and flush and put in fluid that will not foam. Like the Dextron with an -F or something else modern day trucks use. We shall see…. Still need to know what you recommend. L.

“Tractor boys” says a lot. Safe bet not one of them has a lubrication engineering background. I’ll just say this – do NOT use any type of ATF in your hydraulic system. Use ISO AW 32 or ISO AW 46 (brand does not matter). Ideally, use a multi-grade hydraulic oil ISO AW 32/46/68. It has you covered for all ambient operating temperatures and has an AGMA rating of 4 (as does ISO AW 46). Now go do what you will.
