machine oil

  I bought a 10 x 18 metal lathe nothing fancy , I had to make shoulder bushings for my rotary cutter blade bolts to convert it to the new style blades, anyway the book says to use machine oil to lubricate the oil points. I assume that there is several types of machine oil does anyone have any ideas of a preferred type oil ?

  These are just examples. These types of oils are available from many different brands.

  But generally speaking, a good 40w non-detergent motor oil should work fine.
