        It has been a while since I seen a 3 point belly mower I have done a search and do not see them anywhere except for one used one in bad shape ( rhino bm72). Were these a bad idea that went out of production?  Or did I not look in the right place?

          I suspect the 3 Point mower has taken over do to the “universal” fit. Smaller compact tractors from the big manufacturers all have proprietary belly mowers with unique attachments and PTO setups.

          I don’t believe I have ever seen a belly mower on a Jinma or clone.

            Quite possibly the term changes when you hang a mower from the three-point. I assume you are referring to a two, three, or four blade rotary mower, but not the brush hog type. They are then called “finish” or “grooming” mowers. There are tons of them. Example:

              Bob what the mower is one that the power comes from the pto and is partially hung from the 3 point and further supported by chains and bolts I assume near the front of the engine and is hung as a belly mower . (just like a belt driven lawn tractor) Not off the back like what you linked to..

                Does the mower you’re trying to describe hang off the front of the tractor, or is it suspended underneath the tractor then? You’re losing me here. I assume they are all PTO driven, some with a drop box.

                  Ok, now I got it. The mid-mount mowers gave way to pull-behind rotary cutters many years ago. I remember now. Now considered “vintage”. Hope this helps.

                    yep the rhino was the idea with a drive shaft and not so many belts was what I was looking for , 20 years to late.

                      I can’t see any advantage over a pull-behind. They must have been a PITA to mount and unmount. They were a victim of the evolutionary process, and the flail mower is beginning to edge out the rotary cutter.

                        Bob you just have to look down to see where the mower is instead of turning around and length ,they are a much shorter package, but yes some aspects a pita. Also I have a powered leaf sucker and I was thinking about moving it to a tractor and putting the leaf sucker on the draw bar. Cause the mower I use to pull the leaf sucker is on it’s way out and I was thinking about changing style of mower on a tractor that I already have VS buying another machine to replace said mower. I hope you could follow that fragmented paragraph.

                          I have a Toro self powered leaf sucker/mulcher. Problem is that the bag has to be emptied every ten minutes, so yeah, I get it. :good:
