I was finally able to adjust the brakes so now I can stop when going down hill, thank God. I also ran a fused wire to my starter relay, instead of jumpering from my fused glow plug wire. I blew that fuse several times when trying to start the tractor after heating the glow plugs. I now have found it leaking diesel from the pump where that knob and spring are on the top. My spring is expanded out and the two pics I’ve seen of that unit show that spring compressed. Any thoughts?

I think that your writing about the manual fuel pump , when not in use that should be screwed down ,so try pushing down while turning to catch a thread and snug up.

Thanks, it did lock down. I want to change the oil in the pump next. I saw the breather, but the drain wasn’t directly below it. The was some sort of bolt or holding plate at the bottom, but it was more forward toward the radiator.

first you need to determine if the pump is lubed off the engine sump or the pumps own oil reservoir. if it is it own reservoir there might be two drain locations on the bottom of the pump and one level hole , the vent is used as a fill point. it takes time to drain and fill , it all moves very slowly for some reason . I would use 15/40 engine oil. If lubes from the engine I would just change engine oil and let it blend it is only a few ounces of oil.

How can I tell if it comes from the sump or has its own reservoir?

On my 2006 50 hp foton there is one oil line that runs from the base of the oil filter housing to the injector pump, the oil is dumped in the crankcase after it runs thru the pump and discharged thru the front of the pump into a housing attached to the block. the other style has nothing but I suppose could be converted to circulate oil. oil levels is very important in a reservoir pump. I am having trouble with the site letting me log in so sorry for the delay.

There was no connection from the oil filter. I pulled the breather and the drain plug. It looked like water and diesel came out. I poured some 15w/40 through to clean it up and replaced the plug. I added 4 oz, but the only thing that looked like a level plug was in front of the primer pump. It was a banjo bolt with an open tube. I took the bolt out and ran a wire down in it, no liquid. I waited an hour and it was still dry inside. Is this the right level plug and did I add enough oil?

heah were back online, I would add oil , I believe your in the right place for the oil level screw since you put a wire in a hollow cavity , I guess if you use a oil can you could squirt it in that hole till it runs out if need be.

That was my thinking too. What happened to this site? The last few times I tried to log back in it said something like, “ctoa may have been compromised in an effort to steal your personal or financial information”.

I do not have a clue I wish Hal would chime in and tell us about the health of the forum. But about the pump if there was water in the pump I think I would top it off run it a bit to mix any left over contamination and empty and refill just to be safe.

That sounds like a good idea. I am not sure if I add through that level plug hole that it would get drained though.

look for 2 drain points on the bottom of pump , if you have added oil to the pump and do not see it on the other side it might have a wall inside that the oil has to go over to get oil on the other side of the pump. I hope this is a little clearer than mud. I think that my 2005 20 hp dong feng is this way.
