I have a 2004 Farmpro 2430 , they steering wheel sometimes spins freely or i can pull the wheel and shaft all the way out, to a stopping point , not completely remove.   I can push it down and kind of feel around for a lock into place. I finally decided this is the year i am gonna fix it. Is the a Cir clip or something that holds it locked in ? from down to locked in seems like only 1/4′ lower at most. picture is how far out I can pull it

Any thoughts how to repair ?
        Thanks Ken

Sounds like you are on the right track.

The parts diagrams don’t give much detail for your tractor but for the 200 series it shows a bearing at the bottom of the steering column and a snap ring (circlip by the book) that looks to retain the shaft to the bearing. The bearing is captured between the column housing and the mounting bracket.

To get to the snap ring it looks like you can take out the 4 bolts that hold the housing and the gearbox to the bracket then slide the column up through the hood far enough to get to the snap ring.

When you get it apart please post pictures so we can all see how it works.

          Good luck!

            Thank you ,

I will have to spray it all down with brake cleaner and sort it out,  I think something exploded inside maybe the bearing or the clip as it started leaking when I lost steering , so maybe a new pump too.  But when I lock in the wheel still has power steering.

Will def post step by step pictures once I dig in .
