Machine always ran fine except for you had to wait in winter for hyd to warm up before you had steering and 3 pt. Today the steering is hard to turn and almost impossible in points and sometimes ok. 3 pt is slow and during winter you had to hold lever up and wiggle steering to make it come up. I tried disconnecting loader but no difference. I have a valve between pump and steering/ 3 pt. Wondering how to test. Jinma 224 Thanks. Dave

I assume that you have looked at the fluid level and possibly the filter screen or filter, what type of fluid are you using you might need to go to a lighter weight aw-32 should be ok if aw-46 is giving you issues if you are using utf that will be to heavy in winter in some units. I think you have a common sump system so you have just one pump to power things, so if you can figure out it should take care of both problems.

- Aw 32 fluid. Loader works fine and is same pump and supply. Fluid is full and a new filter. I’m leaning towards the priority valve since during the winter I had to wiggle the steering to get the 3 point to go up. Took priority valve off and cleaned inside and springs. Everything looks good but no difference when reinstalled. Makes no difference if wheels on or off ground. Feels like no power assist<!–more–>

My 284 is always slow to get the 3 point moving in the winter even with light weight fluid and a pre-heat.
I cycle the hydraulics to get more action in the sump and warm things up faster. I find that if I raise the loader, then hold up on the 3pt lever as I lower the loader the 3pt will come up. But if you continue to hold the lever up, as soon as the loader hits ground the 3pt drops. Been that way since new.
As it warms up it will slowly start working normally.
Do you have a spin on filter? Suction or pressure side? Or is it just the brass screen on the pickup tube in the sump?
With the engine at high idle can you see any bubbles or foaming in the fluid if you look in the filler hole?

see if turning the 3 pt. oil control valve knob all the way down and back off maybe 1/4 turn and see if it changes your steering,( i guess you could be by passing thru the 3 pt.) but I think you got something with the steering wheel shake and the 3 pt. working better, it makes sense things are not aligning up right there and by passing the flow i guess. I might not hurt just to know if you plumb in a pressure gauge( could be temporary.) on the high side so you can monitor what is happening and when.

Spin on filter Have played with the handwheel fr the 3 pt with no change Presure is OK as loader works fine. Fluid id full and no bubbles. I think it is in the priority valve but not sure and hate to just throw parts at it

Had valve out, apart, and clean. Nothing scored up I can see but I think I need to bite bullet and spend $150 to eliminate it for sure or have a spare.

New priority valve helped with the 3 point but the stearing is choppy in several points Will steer ok then suddenly get hard then steer again. Turning the wheel almost feels “crunchy” Leaning towards steering gear now. thinking something got thru filter and caused valve problem and now stearing box issue
Anybody got any thoughts before I spend $320 on a box?

I think that is all that is left to replace, the only suggestion I have is to take it apart first and see if there is something stupid easy fix. good luck
