        Something bad happened when I replaced the FEL valve on my Foton 404. It would not lift and the hydraulic fluid foamed and bubbled out of the plug. I’m sure something broke as I drained 5 gal of fluid out of my oil pan. Did I break a seal on the gear pump allowing the hydraulic fluid to somehow get into the engine? I need to fix ASAP. Any help greatly appreciated!

          this is a guess but I suspect something deadheaded and blew the seal and loaded the engine with hydro oil..there has been problems with the quick connectors not flowing as they should, it has been suggested that they get replaced first when hydro problems start happening. you need to double check the valve you put in and make sure that all the connection ports match as to what they do to the old valve.

              I assume I am correct on this, I am not familiar with the engine or hydros on the 404 but when you remove the hydro pump there should be a seal to the pump side of the drive gear. that seperates engine oil from hydro oil. that would be the one. please let me know if I am in error.

                This subject should be over by now. However my experience. I abused my hydrolic pump and had to replace it.

                I bought a pump online and after the installation, could run the engine for less than five minutes and hydrolic oil blew out of ever surface possible.

                I tore the engine apart 3 times looking for a crack in the head and other problems.

                My buddy Eddy looked at the problem and said a part (not the impeller) was installed backwards on the manufacturing floor. We dismantled the pump and reversed a gear and the hydrolic oil flowed outward instead of inward.

                Eddie’s Pa-Pa stepped in and informed me with the impeller moving in the wrong direction the hydrolic pressure could not leave the cylinder block, with 3500 pounds of pressure coming from the pump. NO wondering anymore. Problem solved.
