As I get about 18 months out of these clutch pedal springs before they break.

We could use a little more information.
What make model and year of tractor?
Where do they break, at the hook or in the coils?
Are they the same size as the original springs? Length, diameter, wire size
Have you tried springs of a different wire diameter, as in thicker?
What about a lighter duty spring? All you need is enough tension to return the thrust bearing to home position and hold the pedal up against the stop.
Have you tried a different brand of spring? Those Hillman units are for general purpose/home use. A spring from an equipment dealer/supplier might be of better quality.

Lot of questions for a post I figured nobody would respond to.Mostly curious if others had the same problems. Some of your questions would be answered in the hyperlink I gave.
The springs always break at the hooks.
My newly ordered springs will not be Hillman, but Gardner assuming they are both Chinese made.Slightly smaller wire diameter. And since spring steel is much harder than the soft steel attachment points I find this breakage puzzling. The return spring on my Toyota pickup clutch pedal spring continued to work after 450,000 miles of use without breaking .

I have had them break also just as you described, the tractor guy in town gave me some that are used on a ford tractor, do not remember which model . It has been years and have not had a issue since. So just shop around and I think you can find a better than factory replacement spring.

Mr. Privett; Thanks for the response. I may redesign the mounting locations and use pegs for the hooks to spread the loads.
