Before you go splitting the tractor is is far more common for the roll pin to give way on the external shaft. It almost takes two people to check it properly. Have one person push on the clutch while another looks at the end of the shaft. Then try pulling on the clutch pedal. If you see movement where the clutch shaft is moving inside the release arm you can bet that you have roll pin problems there.
