I am getting ready to put some more fencing up with 4”X4”X6’ pressure treated posts and since I have my tractor (354) was thinking about getting a posthole digger. I put hundreds of posts in by hand in my younger days and decided to do my next project by machine. What is a good 3 point hitch posthole digger that is rated for my machine and should I get a 6” or 9” auger to dig the holes.
Thanks

This is what I have, it's either this one or the 7200, but pretty sure it's this. Works great. I use a 9″, my soil is sandy for the first foot or so, then solid rock, so everything gets cemented in. http://www.everythingattachmen…..-l7300.htm

I just spoke to a guy on Craigs list right up the road from me. He had a LB 7300 and sold it while I was talking to him on the phone when someone pulled into his yard. Sold for $375 with a 9″ auger was used but looked new from the pic.
I'll keep looking.
Thanks

Len,
I use a 6″ for any chain link metal poles or other small poles. I use a 9″ for any bigger poles that I will cement in. Sounds to me you are needing the 9″. You can always look for a good deal on a used 6″ later.

People are hilarious...
I'm supposed to choose and be in one of the 2 parties. And NEITHER is worth a damn! -

Len: go online and check out “tractor supply” and some other farm stores, I've seen them for $400.00 with auger, that is where I get most of my implements. I was going through New Mexico and stopped at a farm store and found a 5' box blade with rippers HD for $500 and (no tax) cause I was from another state. Just a thought.

Thanks all!
Craigs List has them for sale every couple of days, but if you are not watching your computer the time they list, it's gone. Everyone that I called on so far was bought by the first person that called them… Must be that everyone around here is putting up fences. Tractor Supply has them on sale for $400.00 and then another $124.00 for a 9″ auger. I'll keep looking.

Try “thesmartfarmer.com”, $449 includes auger size of your choice. He is also on E bay and you can get a better price there.

I called them the other day for a LienBack 3 point Post Hole that they had advertized. I was going to be in the area where they are located (East TN) and they said they are all sold out and the factory has them on back order. They said they were selling like hot cakes and the factory is weeks/months behind on orders.
Thanks
