Tractors are made to scoop, not scrape, either one can have a backhoe on the rear. For your plans the dozer does sound like a much better option. And yes, a Nortrac is a re-badged Yuchai.

Tinbender is correct on all counts.

The dozers are inherently higher maintenance though. I have almost 600 hours on mine and have had virtually no problems (throwing a track does not indicate a problem with the machine). However, I would encourage you to consider other backhoe brands. Most all brands will adapt to the category 1 three point hitch. I use a Harbor Freight quick hitch on my dozer because I change implements frequently.

I also have several videos of the dozer in operation with various attachments located in the old forums.

I agree with the posts here.  With an industrial tractor with a loader within reason you can do some digging.  Not so with an AG tractor.  Neither the tractor or loader are designed for that kind of work.

Personally I would not walk but rather run away from one of the Chinese backhoes.  They are a pile of trouble.  Not only did we not sell them but it got to the point where we would not even sell parts for them.  A lot of the valves had problems.  Some did not freely return oil causing heat and blown pumps.  I had several cases where a person would buy a new pump.  In a short period they would be back wanting a new pump because they one we sold them had also blown.  Of course they want another for free because as they see it we sold them a defective one.  The only way to fix those is to replace “all” the hydraulics and that exceeds the value of the hoe.

I third the motion on backhoe's. Will work but a pain and crankie (or is it me?).

The little dozer will box above her weight and has exceeded my expectations, especially if you consider cost.

Be prepared to do your PM's, adjustments, and it will do a lot of work for you!

I seem to recall you having a FEL for your dozer.  Just curious how it works for ya and how much lifting capacity it had?  I've got a 96 model Guilin dozer and it looks like the mount up would be the same as yours but I don't know for sure.  Any info on model numbers of the FEL and operation would be greatly appreciated.

It would be pretty difficult to put a FEL on a dozer that had never had one on it from the factory (not saying it’s impossible though) The towers (transom weldment) are totally different, wider, and have two additional pivot pins per side. The FEL is model number GU306, and I suspect it is manufactured by Guilin but not positive.

The lifting capacity on mine is probably around 1,800 lbs. and I say that because I’ve had it full of very wet gravel with no problem.

Another thing you have to consider is the rear counterweight that attaches to the TPH. It weighs about 1,000 lbs. and is very necessary to keep you from going over on your nose when lifting heavy (I just used the backhoe instead). Did you see my video of the FEL in action?

I haven't used the FEL at all since I purchased the skid steer.

Thanks for the info.  I've seen the video of the backhoe operation but not the fel.  I'll look throught the archives.  Yea figured it was going to take alot of counter weights to keep it from tucking under with the weight.  Pretty sure I don't have the tower assemblies you mentioned.  Been trying to decide whether to pick up a CUT with an FEL or try adapting  an FEL to the dozer.   Any chance of posting some pictures of the mounting of the FEL on your dozer?    Big thanks

Before I purchased my dozer, I called Koyker to ask about a loader for the dozer. Was told they have looked at it and decided there was no good way to attach a loader. That does not mean it cannot be done.
