Bob what is your though on this my 2 Chinese tractors were designed with a single stage air cleaner the 50 hp has a pooter the 20 hp does not.  Would you fool around with a redesign  to put on a 2 stage filtration or maintain what is there. Really I do not get a bunch of trash getting sucked into the inlets. Of course there is dust, I usually clean them out about every 50 hrs.

the 20 hp has it mounted towards the backside of the engine the 50 hp is like you describe. both have tilting hoods that hinge in the back so going thru the hood would require a big hole. Maybe a pre-filter would be a answer.
