Just changed the fuel filter on my Foton 404 today with great

difficulty.  I swear it was super glued to the threads!  I destroyed a strap filter wrench and also destroyed the filter.  I had to remove the housing from the tractor then use a large pipe wrench to finally remove what was left of the filter.  Put the new filter on, now the engine won't start.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well don't feel alone. laugh I've had to follow quite a few ham-handed grauncher mechanics in my day. I think they breed. evil

So when you reinstalled the new filter did you fill it with clean fuel first?

Did you bleed all the air from the fuel system with the priming pump, including the fuel injection pump and the injectors before you tried to start it?

If it ran before, no reason it shouldn't run again. wink

No Bob, I did not.  There is very little info in my manual, so I am clueless.  I don't know what a priming pump is nor do I have one?  All it states is to replace it after so many hours which was what I was doing.  I used to have it serviced before the place I bought it stopped selling them and got rid of their mechaniccs.  I called shops in my area and NO one wants to work on it, so I have to resort to doing things myself.  Not exactly a diesel mechanic so it's all OJT!  I just need to get it fixed as soon as possible.  Any tips, tricks, suggestions, would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks for replying!

Pull the filter, fill it up so it's running over and screw it back on. Pull the compression release and turn it over for about 5 seconds and release the compression release. It should start.

If not, you will have to break the injector lines loose at the injectors and turn the engine over until fuel comes out at the injectors. Tighten the nuts and try to start it.

Here is a breakdown pic of your fuel system. Unscrew the large knurled knob on the pump and it will pop up. This is the priming pump. Push it down an tighten it when you are through.
