Thanks to you all for the good advise in troubleshooting my tractor when i had water blowing out the oil rebreather tube. I did pull off the valve cover and found a freeze plug popped out. (so far no cracked block or head) No damage to arms or anything that I can see. I have a few questions about repair. For the freeze plug, do u just tap in a new one? Are there any special tools I need to seat it properly? Also, now that I have water in the oil and oil in the water, how do I flush each system and what do I buy or use to get the “gunk” out? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I am ordering the freeze plug and gaskets today. Thanks again for the help

does anyone know the part number for the freeze plug located under the valve cover on the Y385 engine? There are two there that I can see, but in my parts book, the part number is not listed. I dont want to order the wrong one! Thanks!

Measure the one you need and call Tommy at Affordable, Ronald at Ranch Hand, or Eric at Keno Tractors depending on where you live, any of these guys can get you set up. I'd by two in case you bend/mess one up, they're cheap enough. A socket the same size as the plug will do for install. For the oil I use Shell Rotella 15-40, you'll have to flush it and change the filter after running it for 20 minutes or so, so order a couple filters with those core plugs. Get some radiatior flush, don't need the super high strengh, run water and drain, run the flush till hot and drain, flush with water one more time and drain. Then fill with “Final Charge” coolant and the system will likley be set for the life of the tractor. Don't know if you have a Car Quest nearby, they are running a special on the Final Charge right now.
Don't remember if it was Tommy or Ronald that nailed your problem down, but whichever one of them it was I'd throw'em a few bones and order from them if it was me.
