I just purchased a 2010 Foton 354 with loader, with 77 hours on it. this has the 4 cylinder 35 hours power engine. I would like to change all fluids and filters. When changing the oil I poured the new oil into the (what looks like the oil cap on the distributor cap. This caused oil to go into a cylinder and lock up the engine unit I pulled the glow plugs and blew the oil out. I was told there is another place to put the oil in other than on top of the engine…. is this true because for the life of me I cant find any other place to put the oil in the crank case. Thanks for any info any of you have!!

Oh I meant the Camshaft or valve cover on the top of the engine.  There is what looks like a larch oil cap on it (very top of the engine)  This is where I put the oil… most of the oil did go where it was supposed to but some went into the cylinder as well…  Maybe I need to use a tube or something to get the oil down passed wherever it goes into the cylinder… but the dealership told me that there is another place on the side of the engine to pour the oil in….  have not made it over there yet to have them show me just thinking maybe someone else has had this problem or knows where the oil fill points are…

            Thanks!

On my engine there is an oil cap at the left front corner.

I seem to recall a post awhile back about someone else having the same problem, and it was solved by not pouring the oil in too fast. I can't remember the explanation as to why this was happeninghmmm, but that was the cure.

Apparently it leaks by the valve guides. They don’t leave much clearance around the push rods.

Really strange. They show up on Explorer but not on Firefox, and I've been using Firefox exclusively for years, yet this just started today.

Hmm. Weird. I’ll check when I get home.

Thank you everyone for the input on my oil adding issue.  Turns our there is only the one place to put the oil and I was in fact pouring it in too fast…  I slow it down and no issues.  Thanks!!
