I have a Foton 404 I was using last Saturday when all of a sudden it lost power and the engine quit. I noticed the sediment bowl looked like there was a lot of sludge in it and sure enough it was clogged. I got a new bowl installed it and now the priming pump is not getting anything to the injectors. What else do I need to look at?
Thanks! -

They may be a screen in the bottom of the fuel tank. I would try cracking the fitting on the injectors one at a time, see if that helps. If you ran out of fuel, it can be quite a job to get it primed again, someone else may have more ideals, good luck.

each one of these tractors seem to be just a little bit different , but just follow the flow of fuel from the tank to the pump. If you have a bowl that was full of junk then you should replace the filter past it if there is one, there also could be a screen in a fitting that you would not think there would be one. surprise surprise what is that there for? isn’t a screen in the tank , sediment bowl and a fuel filter enough? keep a eye on the sediment bowl it will tell you a lot about the condition of your fuel. removal of as much air out of the fuel system as possible will make restarting easier.

There most likely is a filter in the tank, but that’s just the start of fixing this problem. 99% sure you have Diesel bugs. Google diesel fuel biocide, if (and most likely) this is what’s going on you’ll need to flush the tank, fuel filter housing, lines, etc. Then you can work on getting it primed to start.

I want to thank everyone who replied to my post. I was able to get it going after getting the airlock out at the fuel filter. I have always used a fuel additive to help keep the fuel fresh and also use injector cleaner at regular intervals. I wish I knew more about diesels but it sure helps to come to the forums and get needed information to keep my tractor running!

Curious what kind of additive you are adding to your fuel.
Is it a cetane booster? Is it an anti-gel for winter use? Does it contain a biocide?
Is the injector cleaner you are using specifically formulated for diesel engines?
What color was the sludge in the sediment bowl, brown or black?
My money is on Tinbender that you have a dose of diesel bugs, which is not good. Here is a quick primer on the subject: http://www.oillab.co.nz/diesel_bug_explained

I just saw this post. There is a bleeder screw on the top right of middle on the injector pump. Open bleeder and use the hand pump on the injector pump to pump fuel to the injector pump. They’ll normally start once you get the fuel into the injector pump.
