I ordered two new steering cylinder boots for my 2006 foton 504a . I assumed that I would just take off the ball ends and replace the boot. Well it looks like I need to remove the rod from the cylinder and slip the boot on that way the ball ends are not screwed on the rod. The cylinders do not leak now, if careful do I have a good chance of not having to replace cylinder seals? Has anyone have experience doing these types ?
Yes, you can disassemble and reassemble successfully. I’ve done it. Just be sure you don’t nick or scratch any of the seal surfaces. Seems to me some folks were using Rancho shock absorber boots without having to disassemble the cylinders. This was awhile back, and I don’t remember the tractor models.
