So do you read the dip stick screwehmmmd in or out?

Generally on Chinese tractors the dipstick for the hydro and the gearbox/drivetrain is read screwed out, just resting on the lip of the hole.

I have never understood why this “rule” isn't engraved right on each and every dipstick on the planet.  I ask myself this question every time.  Just yesterday if fact.  Got a new air compressor (oil lubed).  No where is it written if the dipstick should be all the way in or resting on top. yell

Well then, it looks to have about a 5 qt system? This is for the front 4×4 axle on a JM354.

              Thanks for the input! Randall

5 quarts sounds about right for the front end – no  brakes to soak so a bit extra wouldn't hurt much anyway, I don't think.  Too little would be an issue, though.

Looks to be more like 6 Qt.s. Screwed in top of top line. Setting on the top alittle over the bottom line. Will let it sitt over the weekend and recheck it Mon. Thanks for the input!

It is supposed to be 6.6 liters if completely empty on a 300 series tractor.  But here's the problem you can lay 4 dipsticks side by side and it's hard to find two that are marked in exactly the same place.   These machine are not exact.
