I know it’s not a new topic but haven’t found an answer. Where do I start looking when fwd doesn’t engage? What is the weakest part of the fwd that will break or shear first? Start in the housing where the fwd shift lever is? Tractor is a 2007 254 Jinma. Thanks for any help. Joe

If the shift lever is engaging but the front end is not engaged remove the driveline from the front end. There are four balls that fall out of position that will keep the front axle from hooking up, that’s the weakest link. I can’t tell you more as I’ve never had any problems to date, knock on wood. But many others have had this issue, perhaps one will chime in with more information.

I and others had  some problems having the split pin in the 4 wheel engaging lever shear, I believe a quick fix was to put a pin inside a pin to strengthen it. But the balls falling out is common too.
