After running my Jinma 254 for maybe 15 to 20 minutes, it starts losing fuel pressure and dies. After priming the pump, eventually I can get it to start again just to start the cycle all over again. Is this a fuel pump problem or is there something else going on? Any help will be appreciated.

Welcome lelhill,
It sounds to me like you have a plugged fuel system, but first check your fuel injection pump for the proper oil level, next check the sediment bowl screen. If there is black/brown sludge present you have been visited by the infamous diesel bugs.
We can go from there.

Hey Bob,
Thanks for the information. It looks like the problem was not enough fuel coming from the tank to the sediment bowl. I managed to blow air into the fuel tank and freed the fuel flow up. While this helped for now, I will eventually need to pull the fuel tank for a good cleaning. Again thanks for the help.

Blowing air back into the tank only stirred up the bugs. The problem will be back very soon. Meanwhile, I suggest you do a little research on “Diesel Bugs” and start saving for a new fuel injection pump if you plan on deferring this. Start treating your fuel with a biocide according to the directions, and prepare to give your fuel system a thorough cleaning ASAP!
Mike Sorrentino strongly urges you to remove the sediment bowl assembly from the fuel tank, remove the strainer from the threaded inlet, and throw it as far away as possible. You will see the the logic behind this eventually.

What is a good brand of biocide and where can I get it?

Hammond's Bio-Bor JF, Power Service Bio-Kleen, and Lucas Bio Medic, to name a few. Hammond's is available at marine and aviation outlets and Power Service and Lucas are available at most auto parts stores and NAPA, or online.
If you store your fuel in bulk then I suggest you check it with the Hum Bug test kit right away.
