I started this project over two years ago. Had a lot of hoops to jump through. Seems like there was never any record of my septic system (built in '49) so I had to have a septic designer give it his blessing and submit it to the county health dept. Why you ask, is that necessary for a garage with no plumbing, and it is over 200' away from the well and even further from the septic system? Because, that's why. It's the code.

After spending huge amounts of money for services and fees, I get to play with my toys again. I get this far and now have to wait for the building inspector… evil

You know no good deed goes unpunished don't you?roflmao The ones around here will tell you to do things one way, then change their mind after you've spent money doing it the first way.yell

On the plus side it's really taking shapecool

Well they can only ask me to build a smaller garage, or none at all. The leveled site is benched into a slope and compacted fill on the downslope. I can always just throw up a big tent. roflmao

Nice toys there Bob! Will this be a 24'x30' garage? Will you be doing the framing as well? Yeah, codes have been changing here in Canada as well which makes it more costly and difficult for us to build anything!

That's some mighty nice grading work there Bob.  I see your laser level over there in the corner.  How did you use it?  I've imagined putting up a little stick on each corner of the blade with a mark on it.  Wouldn't be perfect but I guess it would keep you honest as you were back dragging.

Thanks. You must be psychic laugh. Yep, 24 x 30 pole building with steel roof and sides, fibermesh concrete floor, and two 10' x 10' rollup doors. OR a couple of 20' ocean shipping containers. roflmao

Thanks. I tried the laser level idea with a pipe and receiver with mixed results. Seems that either I can't respond fast enough or the dozer won't go slow enough to make a presentable job, even after four or five passes. It does work but you have to be right on top of it all the time. It would work a lot better if I had the servo valves though. And a bit younger…roflmao

Nice Bob… you can never have too much shop space!  wink

You might want to change one of those 10 X 10 doors to a taller one. I found I couldn't get some things in the shop. I.E., motorhome, trailer, etc. yell

                    I solved the problem though…. I built a second shop… it's got a 12' door… roflmao

I'm supposed to choose and be in one of the 2 parties. And NEITHER is worth a damn!

I found this. Check it out. Thinking about changing the valve in the dozer again.

This would be sweet, especially at one-third the cost of an off-the-shelf system.

Bob, that would be a wonderful addition to your dozer! cool

Now that's got me thinking about a mod for my little tractor.  No laser stuff since I don't have the bucks even for a transit, much less a laser.  I do like the notion of the box scraper on the front and I think it would work on a wheelie, too.  No real heavy duty work, of course.

I'm going to have to give this some serious thought.

@Bert: It sure would, but I don't know where I would mount the valves. Really shy on space since I installed the top 'n tilt. I have requested more info and pricing from Apache.

@Grizz: Oh ya, I saw that and my jaw dropped – looks like a brown carpet, but I think he's working in topsoil/loam and not the native boulder-infested glacial till like I have up here.

@Rich: Traditionally, skid steer attachments are pushed and tractor attachments are pulled. If you had that skid steer quick-attach adapter pinned to your FEL lift arms your options would be endless.
