I am looking at a Jinma 554 in very good condition with relatively low hours and comes with a FEL and backhoe attatchement. I am also looking at a AgTrac 3024 with FEL. This one has more hours and a lot of mostly cosmetic issues. (peeling paint, bent up steps, torn seat, piece broken out of the canopy, hyd. hose needs to be rerouted, needs new fan belt. I can get the Jinma for $1000 more. I’ve heard that the 3 cyl. deisels have more low rpm torque and possibly better longevity if properly maintained compared to the 4 cyl. deisels. both are 2008 models. Just wanting to see what most of you have to say to help me decide which one to go with. I think I know which way I’m leaning, but looking for other suggestions/ideas. Thaks guys.

To me you are basically comparing apples to oranges. One is 30 HP and the other is 50 HP, and has more going for it (imo). Do you know if either tractor has the TY series engine in it? Are they both 4WD?

Thanks Bob. They are both 4X4. Not sure about the TY engine. What is the best way to determine that? I also forgot to mention that the AgTrac has shuttle shift and extra hyd. QD’s for a grapple fork if ever needed.

There will be nameplates on the engines. How many hours on them?
Your selection should depend on your anticipated use and the size of your property.

if they are both 2008 I would look at how they have been worked and used if one is in good shape I would assume it has had better care than one that has been beat up. talk to the owners and ask about maint. that has been done or not done, of course look at the fluids and make sure they are without water. feel the clutch travel too. but buying used is always a roll of the dice. but there is bad buys even new. I know it is not the same tractor that you are looking at but I have a 2006 4 cyl. 50 hp. foton and it is been a good machine.

Bob.The engine data plate on the Jinma has model SL4105ABT. Engine family FJLL4,05ABT. The engine data plate on the AgTrac has model 3LS30. Engine family 8CHCL1.81AAA. Thank you for your thoughts on your Foton. Sounds like it’s pretty comparable to the Jinma. Overall, I really like the Jinma more. It very closely resembles the Mahindras I’ve seen and looks to have been much better taken care of and maintained. My biggest question mark is on the engine. 3 cylinder compared to the 4 cylinder.

It appears that neither engine is from the Yaing Dong TY engine series family so I can’t tell you much about them other than the 3LS30 is a Tier lll EPA compliant engine, and the SL4105 engine is not. Neither can be made to be current Tier lV compliant, but are automatically grandfathered.
Sorry.
