        Hello all,

Happy to find this forum 🙂

I am having a problem with my rear hitch lift hydraulics. Perhaps in the lever actuator valve.
I took a video of the problem to try and illustrate the noise. I am hoping to figure this out before I accidentally blow the hydraulic motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
In this video, please note the following…

1] A slight movement (say 1/4″) of the hitch lift arm creates a squealing noise in the front hydraulics under the hood ( hydr. motor?)
If I move more than a 1/4″ inch the noise stops and the 3-point system raises normally.
Sometimes if I don’t return the lever to exact center, the squealing starts and the engine bogs (even if the hitch is not near the up/down limits.)

2] During the squealing sound, the engine bogs and if left long enough the engine almost stalls.

3] This happens in the direction of raising the hitch, but not when lowering.

4] The same symptom occurs when I hit the limits of the hitch raising travel.

That sound is your pressure relief valve popping open, preventing the hydraulic pump from deadheading. There are no hydraulic motors on these tractors. Did this sound just start happening? It happens when the spool blocks both ports in the valve. Don’t hold the valve in that position, pass through it quickly. If there are detents then it could be a simple linkage adjustment.

              Thanks Bob

Oops! I mean motor …not pump.

The problem has been there since day one.
The situation causes the engine to almost stall so don’t think there is adequate relief. Maybe even no relief at all.It is easy to pass quickly through the lever travel to try an eliminate the problem. But the travel is so close to the center position that a slight nudge or failure to return to “perfect center” will keep it squealing..

Unfortunately, the Chinese manual for this tractor is totally useless.
Apparently the Luzhong and the Futon tractors are much the same.
              What would help is …
A] Has anyone else had issues with the 3 point hitch directional valve?
B] Do the 254 series of tractors actually have an adjustable RV in the system (I heard that some do not).

Did the dealer you purchased it from perform a pre-delivery service? This issue should have been caught then. You can try adjusting the linkage but I’m not sure if that would help. I’m not that familiar with the wheeled tractors, so hopefully someone that is will chime in shortly. I’m told that there may be a valve under the seat that has something to do with the three point hitch lift.

Hahaha. You still have it wrong. Pump, not motor. No hydraulic motors on these tractors, but they do have hydraulic pumps. The fact that the relief valve is squealing is proof that it’s functioning, although it may be set too high if it tries to kill the engine (depending on engine speed). It may well kill the engine if it’s only idling.

                BoB,

                LOL…yes ,  PUMP…not Motor.

I imported the tractor from the manufacturer in China. This issue is part of my pre-delivery inspection being done by myself. All fluids have been changed and fasteners tightened.
This hydraulic issue seems to be the last remaining issue.
However, if not solved I could find myself with a cracked PUMP casing.

This is one of the inherent problems of self-importing. Reputable dealers have the knowledge, parts, and expertise to correct these issues. It’s a small price to pay for that assurance. It’s not likely your pump will fail as long as the pressure relief valve is functioning properly, however that is like playing Russian roulette. You might have to replace that valve. If there is a part number on the valve you might contact one of the dealers that support this site or the manufacturer where you purchased it to see if they have a replacement, or can help you further. Sorry, wish I could help you more.

Video doesn’t show very well, but I will guess that the nut on the end of the rod connected to the lift lever, has to be adjusted so the lever can’t go beyond a preset position, which would stop the problem you are having. Try adjusting nut inward so that it prevents you from raising the three point too high. The inner adjustment would give you a preset level on the three point, with implement attached. I have no experience with that tractor, so proceed with caution.

                      oldfart2,

Please note that the squealing noise starts as soon as I move the lever 1/4 inch from center.
The adjusting “stop nuts” that you mention are for controlling the limits at each end of the lever adjustment
and have no effect on the centering of the rear hitch lever.

                      Thanks anyway 😉

you might want to consider placing a pressure gauge in the system somewhere on the high side to verify that the noise is because of the over pressure release valve is cracking open.
