I had an injector pump plug up with varnish, Fuel shut off stuck. Couldnt afford a replacement part so I removed the govner housing, transfer pump, and inspection plate. Cleaned it with Spray carb cleaner and WD 40. When I removed the pump I marked the gear teeth and scribed the housing location. Put the pump back in and tried to start it, it now sends fuel to the Injectors but wont start. Is there an easy way to check the timming.
I saw the post for the 354 timming is this the same?
How do you time by ear?
I Know that this is not a part that is servicible by anyone other than a proper injector shop, but I have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Not only that but I would not beleive that the local Chinese farmer wouldnt fix his own.

There are diesel shops in China, just like here. You knew it was uncharted territory for you, but you went there anyway.
I suggest that you spill time it.

Wow, even though you marked the gear you have NO clue as to what position the injector pump was in in relation to the rest of your engine.
You can start with finding your timing marks on the crankshaft, the timing on the Y385 engine is 16 degree BTC. ,once you locate the timing mark you will have to see what position your injector pump is at, you will have to remove the gear off the front and get it in time with the crankshaft.

Thanks Bob I just got it fired up, about 10 deg change and it started up better than ever. Timming was probably out from the factory as it was allways hard to start. Just turned the key and it took off right away.

Glad to hear it's working. Did you spill time it, or just fiddle with it until it worked? I'm just curious in case I ever need to do it.
