Hello,
I have the opportunity to purchase a Farm Pro 30 HP that was ran out of oil and has a hole in the side of the block.
Does anyone know where I can get a short block or a engine (at a reasonable price). I have checked with dealers every where I can all over the USA and tried some of the ones in Ausralia, and China, noone seems to be able to supply a short block or even a block.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Here is the picture of the engine tag, if I can get it to upload, it does not make sense to me.

OK, I have tried 3 times to upload picture of engine tag, can’t get it to work. it is only 157KB so it sholdn’t be a problem.

Maybe you could clean up the tag a little? Many dealers stock short and long blocks, as well as complete engines. Check the business directory at the top of the page.

IMPORTANT ENGINE INFORMATION
THIS ENGINE COMPLIES TO 2007 US EPA REGULATIONS, NON SPARK COMPRESSION IGNITION
ENGINE IS CERTIFIED TO OPERATE WITH “TYPE 2-D” COMMERCIAL GRADE DIESEL
FAMILY NAME RATED POWER/SPEED ENGINE DISPLACEMENT
7SHLL1.81LDE 22.4/2400 KW/RMM 1.81 LITER
DATE 2007/01 ENGINE NO. L70105747B
CHINA SHANDONG HUAYUAN LAIDONG ENGINE CO.This is the tag information, I cleaned the tag with WD40, it is attached.
As for dealers having short or long blocks, I have been unable to find a dealer with either or even willing to order me one. I have been in contact with some suppliers in China, but they say shipping would be to high. as for a complete engine, I would be buying much I do not need and I am unwilling to pay 2000 for the tractor then another 6400 for an engine.I understand why some say that when anything major goes wrong they are scrap iron.
Sorry it I sound a little testy, but I am.
Again SorryAttachments:

now that you have the engine info contact some of this sites sponsors they should be able to figure something out . look at the cost of a new tractor and make a choice one way or another. you can always try to low ball who has the tractor now , with that 6500 dollar engine replacement cost. then go from there.

$6000 plus a $1500 core charge makes $7500 plus price of tractor from present owner is $9500 for a 10 year old tractor that you do not know what other problems seller is not telling you. I know the tractor has been setting long enough the battery will not accept a charge, then there is the labor to change the engine, If I can not find a short block, I think continuing with my present tractor a JM284 and let this one go to the scrap heap where it is only worth about $200.

And there is your answer. It is worth $200 not $2000 the owner is asking.
Another question would be could it be parted out for a different value?
If I were the owner looking to sell and it was worth $200 at the junk yard I would be happy to have someone come take it off my hands for the same or a little more. ($250).
Next question: would the old tractor with a new engine be worth $7750? Probably not.
However, if your situation allows, IF you can get it for say $250 and can store it, then you can keep an eye out for a tractor that is broken but has a good engine…..

I would add even semi broken like a bad injector pump buy 2 make 1 plus extra parts for future. just a possibility. only if the price is right. also you might want to check out what other engines might fit in that frame. sometimes people get lucky it might be your turn.
