I have an 2005 Jinma 404 with a severe runaway high engine rpm.  My fuel shut off would not kill the engine. It just kept Maxing the rpms out. I thought it was going to blow up. The Petcock would not shut off fuel either. Finally pulled the fuel line off of the injector pump. It finally died after starving for fuel. It starts right back up. But I’m afraid to give it much throttle out of fear of this happening again. What on earth could cause this? Any solutions?

there is two different types of injectors on these chinese tractors as far as I know . One type is self lubercating off the engine oil  via a hose the area around the oil filter and the oil pressure adjusting screw. And the other type uses only the oil resivour that is in the injector pump. So I am thinking you have the latter and the sump is dry. Look at the injector pump I think if yours is like mine there will be a domeish thing which is a vent on top of the pump , that when taken out is the fill. There should be a screw somewhere in the middle , maybe with a hose fitting capped off, that will be your oil level. And a drain on the bottom. So these pumps do not hold much oil and they fill kinda slow.So take the dome thing out and fill till it runs out the middle level screw with 15/40 engine oil. hopefully this will take care of it.

I guess I did not explain that there is a governor in the injector pump, and that for it to work it needs to run in a oil bath.

Thanks for the help. I found the fill/ vent cap, removed it and filled to center drain hole. Going to take the top off the pump next and have a look around to see what is sticking and give the parts a good cleaning.

Ok I will check that out. I will also add a picture of the type of pump I have. I am wondering now if its dry and since it ran so crazy if I need to pull any of the pump apart to remove any scorching from any internals? I mean it ran long and hard at redline or above until I could get it shut down. Also anyone with any suggestions on why my fuel shut off would not work at those high RPM’s. Works fine on lower level rpms like anything below 1900. Dont dare go higher right now!
