Hi,
I’m actually looking into this for a friend who does not have internet access.
My friend is working on a Jinma 354 Tractor, with a 295 (non-EPA), He is rebuilding the diesel, and ordered an engine rebuild kit from “circlegtractor”. They sent him mostly the right parts, but the wrong pistons, sleeves and rings. He has sent them back twice and received the wrong ones twice. He then sent them a piston and sleeve he took out of the engine he is building– and they still can’t find the right pistons.
Please tell me which pistons, sleeves, and rings, are the right ones for this engine.
Thanks
Bob

The answer to your dilemma is simple.
Take and post a clear picture of the engine nameplate here.
With the information you have given, I’m surprised Circle-G sent you anything.
And I don’t believe that the 354 tractors have a 295 engine..

“And I don’t believe that the 354 tractors have a 295 engine..”
Correct. The 295 is an oddball 2 cylinder engine used in some 204 model tractors, never used in a 254/284 let alone a 354. And you certainly do need that engine tag information to know just what you have. As an example my 284 has a Quanchai engine. While it’s been a trouble free engine, from what I understand it was only used for a very short time and was probably installed in -1% of all Jinmas imported here.

He might not even have a 354 tractor for that matter. I suppose it’s possible to have a TY295 engine that was used in the older 20 HP Guilin dozers, but I don’t know what wheeled tractor that would have been used in.

I got my info off of John’s tractor. It claimed the TY290 is the standard engine for a Jinma 200 series, but a very few had the TY295

Makes sense.
I wonder what happened to the original poster (OP)?

Hi,
I’m the original poster, and I apologize, I gave you guys the wrong information.
I’m looking for pistons, sleeves, and rings for the following Tractor/Engine:
Jinma Tractor Model: 354
Engine 395
The plate on the engine has some Chinese writing and some English. The English on the engine plate says:
JD2100W
Engine no. 08F0505261
Does anybody recognize this engine? Maybe this is a grey market tractor??
Thanks in advance for the help.
Bob

Robert,
Early on in my career I learned that following instructions was very important, and in some cases could save a person’s life, including my own. I also learned that details were extremely important. That said, this is why I requested a CLEAR PICTURE of the engine nameplate. There could be information on there that may seem redundant or unimportant to you, but would be very important to someone trying to determine the type, size, model, and serial number of the engine. Serial numbers are very important too because of production changes that are made. And often times when writing something down from memory numbers or letters will get transposed. So, I’ll go out on a limb and ASS U ME that the engine is a Jiang Dong TY395. This is a popular engine (I have one in my dozer), and has several variants. You should have no problem finding parts for it, if in fact that’s what it is. Parts are available at Keno Tractor, Circle-G, Affordable Tractor, and a host of others.
Good luck

Robert,
The grey market, also referred to as a parallel market, is a market where a product is bought and sold outside of the manufacturer’s authorized trading territory. So, to answer your question, NO, they are not grey market tractors.

Bob,
Give us a call at the shop number below. We have all the manuals for the various engines that could be in your 354 and should have the parts in stock. Mr. Rooks is correct and a clear picture of that nameplate speaks volumes as to whether it’s a QuanChai, LaiDong, YangDond etc. We are open until 5pm tonight and 9am to 1pm Saturday.

Hi I finally had the chance today to take pictures of the engine name plate– here it is:
Hope this helps.
My friend who is working on the engine got a rebuild kit and he believes all the parts fit except the sleeves, rings and pistons.

Yes, and he also believed what engine he has. I suggest you call Adam at Keno Tractor and order the correct parts.

I just spoke with Johnathan and the measurements he gave me were 99-100mm on the pistons. Which makes sense: 3100 = 3 cylinder, 100mm pistons. However, that is a rare-ish engine. I can get these parts ordered but do not have them in stock.

To the original poster, I also checked with Thomas at Affordable and they do not have these parts either. Circle G sent him a rebuild kit that contained the 395 pistons, rings and sleeves. I CAN order these parts but they will not be here until mid April. Have Jonathan call me again as he did not leave me his number.
