I have put back up online the prior sites FORUMS which are still searchable. The new link titled OLD FORUMS has been placed on the top of the site.
It will open a new page with the old forums that can still be reviewed and SEARCHED. However, they can not be posted to or replied to on that old site.
If you have new questions or updates to a old forum post….PLEASE REPOST THAT QUESTION ON THE NEW FORUMS SITE HERE.
I am still working on a clean archive approach, but for the time being this should help those that must have a way to review the prior old post. I suggest if you have any post you rely on for regular reference you make COPIES of them for your own purpose.

THIS IS GREAT AND MEETS ALL MY NEEDS. What is the annual cost to keep the old forums active?

Its stored on the same server, its not a cost issue. I will keep them online like I said until I get a clean way to archive them into a searchable index etc..

Well that sucks. It makes sense, and I can see why you had to do it, but what a bummer.

I can see why but it does not make sense to me. I believe there is an old concept called Backup and Restore. On your home computer, are you satisfied with wiping you disk clean and starting over loosing your pictures, documents, jokes, customer data, etc.? How about the banks? We had an attack. We had to erase your account data. Sorry, you have no money.

The old forums were the only part of the old CTOA that had been run with what turned out to be compromisable software that was transferred over to the new site.. That created a backdoor for the problems which required the creation of the new CTOA. The only way to restore the old forums safely as I see it would be to copy and paste every article, every word over to the new software format. A bank could afford the man hours to do that but I would never expect Hal to have to spend the ungodly amount of hours it would take to do that for a website he is doing us a favor to host. I appreciate everything you do to keep this place available and safe for us Hal, keep up the good work.

Bummer, there was a lot of good information in the old CTOA. That was what convinced me to become a member.

Well, I do have the data saved in the sql files. However without the old outdated xoops software platform running it, it would take a more experienced IT person to manipulate the data files for those post and create a usuable format. Anyone up to that challenge? Let me know and I am open to discussion. Like Tinbender said, many hours, and remember, I am not a IT PROFESSIONAL. I created this site because of issues I had with my Chinese tractors years ago and wanted a good help site.
I always suggest to PRINT OUT or SAVE TO FILE any topics of importance for you specific needs, plus, if you have a problem..new or old.. JUST ASK HERE !! As stated at the start of this thread…
I suggest if you have any post you rely on for regular reference you make COPIES of them for your own purpose
