i deadhead my bucket pump & i,m installing a new one plus a relief valve set at 2000 lbs. i bought my jinma 454 tractor used with 44 hrs on the meter . i,m thinking it mite be ok to route the bypass from the relief valve into the quick connect at the back of tractor as i,m not useing the auxillary . there is a larger line which i ,m thinking is the return. my hoe has it’s own pump. oviously i’m not much of a mechanic and know very little about this tractor. didn’t get a manual with it. any advice will be nice. thank you.

I am working on a on a hydraulic pump retrofit for a JM604. Swapping the OEM pump (CBN314 for a CBN320) for a higher capacity pump to run the loader. One thing I have done is install a relief off the pump discharge prior to any valves or quick connects. The plan is to run it to a return line to the sump along with the return from another circut I am installing. It may not be a good idea to run the return through a remote quick connect. I do not believe it will function unless you engage the remote valve amd select the correct quick connect. It may be possible to find another point to install a return to the sump. I am installing a tee on the drain point to the hydraulic sump (there are only two points to return that I can find, the sump vent and drain). The new circut will return on one side of the tee and the drain pulg on the other.

thanks bluenoser, it's after midnite here so tomorrow i'll look my project over again and see what i can do. i never thot to much about that quick connect behind the pump but now that you mention it, that won't be hard to change to the other side of the relief valve and eliminate another potential problem spot. ill check and see where my drain is , that would work i,m sure. that sounds better and mite be less line & cleaner.

I did the same thing: I installed an adjustable relief valve immediately after the pump discharge and routed the relief into a Tee on the back of my Jinma 284 where one of the rear remotes returned to sump. I just removed the remote quick disconnect and added the Tee. By making my own hoses, the job was simple and inexpensive. Now, no matter what happens, the hydraulic pump will always relieve to sump if I have a dead head problem.

Hi
I also have the 454, if you need any info let me know. Did you get the 4 cylinder or the 3? If I were you, I would check and change all the fluids. I don't know why you couldn't run the out of the pump thru the relief valve and back to the inlet. I know that they say not, but it seems to me that it would work as it would only go into effect on a deadhead. You might be able to feed the outlet back in the top of the sump, as it has a fill plug with NPT thread. (The one with the red paint on top, right behind the seat.) You'll find that you will blow oil out of it when working on a hot day, especially if you have a loader on it.

On our 454 4 cyl we installed a relief valve between the pump and the FEL control valve that ties in to a T connection on the return to tank line.

I finally got it plumbed up. Split the discharge with a 3 way valve so I could use new quich connects on the loader.

Good job Bluenoser. How do you like your new CBN-320 pump upgrade?

Thanks. Have not had the loader on yet, need to adjust my clutch this w/e and relocate the FEL controls. Should be ready to work in 2 weeks, if it stops snowing!
