With my Jinma 254 I have been running it at 2,000 rpm for all of the work I have used it for. But have been thinking that might be a little too high. What do like owners / users recommend???? Or like tractors. Thanks a bunch !

About the only time I run that high is when I'm going down the road from one side of the property to the other. But I don't plow anything but snow with it. When I'm using the box blade with the tines down maybe 1700, but that's about max for me.

putting around 1500 or so, anything using pto 1800 to 2000 to maintain good blade speed cause really correct rpm to achieve 540 pto rpm would be around 2400 . remember do not lug the engine use a lower gear and bump up the engine rpm for wanted ground speed.

I remember seeing a couple of times that 1800 would give you 540 rpm. I try not to go over that when blowing snow or using a brush cutter.

Sounds about right. 2400 is really winding up one of these engines, I wouldn't think of running at that speed even for a few seconds.

I might have miss spoke 2400 is most likely max rpm and take 80 percent of that to get around 540 , it should be in the manual . I know the 50 hp quanchi and 92 hp perkins engines I have has no problem running at 2400. My 20 hp has no tach. the dealer said max it out then back it off some , he said they are governed on the low side of where they could run. I know it is apples and oranges but look at what the diesels are running at now,3000 is nothing. It is all in the engineering.

“It is all in the engineering.” Precisely what concerns me.

Thanks for all the reply's. Will definitely back her down to 1,800 rpm's when working. Really makes sense.

I've got a 40 hp and 1700 to 1800 gives me good mower speed with the brush hog and finish mower. I found general work, box blade and things of that nature 1500 to 1600 is plenty.
