Today was the first time I tried to crank my tractor since a pretty cold winter for my area in the teens for about a week.I know its a lot colder where some of you live. The tractor was hard to get cranked and would not stay running without pumping the manual primer. Then shut off.I bled pump off no air present.Cranked back up and there was no throttle response at all and shut back down.Is there a simple adjustment I may be missing. Was running good before cold weather.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also fuel filters changed and still no run no throttle response. Thanks Mike

Sounds like the lift pump may not be working. Also sounds like the governor is not working. Since these share a common oil sump I would check the oil in the governor. If it has been a while, just go ahead and change it. It only holds a few ounces. Be sure to save the old oil so you can examine it for fuel contamination.
Let us know what you find. This could be interesting…

All good advice from Piper. I would also ask if you topped off your fuel tank before you laid it up because condensation can build up and then it’s a breeding ground for diesel bugs. One thing that can happen to diesel fuel in cold weather is that it can gell. This is where the “wax” in the fuel becomes solidified and won’t let it flow. It can also plug the filters. There are anti-gell additives available to add to your fuel. Unfortunately, once the wax has solidified heating the fuel will not make it miscible again. However, keeping the fuel warm(er) will prevent this problem.

You’re making me want to plug in the tractor tomorrow and make sure it starts. It was -5 yesterday, haven’t run it in a couple weeks.

If you added an anti-gel additive you should be ok. I use this stuff year ’round in my bulk tank.

make sure that there is a good flow of fuel coming from the tank to the lift pump, a restricted gravity system ,(which I am sure you have) might have symptoms like what you describe.
