        Jinma 284

I was grading my driveway today and the steering stiffened up while turning around. As I turned the steering wheel, it was stiff at first, then loosened up and acted normal. That lasted maybe 30 seconds until I had to adjust steering again. Stiff, then with a heavy turning of steering wheel back to normal. If I constantly move steering wheel a harder left or right, it doesn't stiffen up. Any ideas. Also, just replaced steering cylinder, connecting hoses, 45 connectors, and O-rings a few weeks ago.yell

Sounds like it may be low on fluid or has air, check your hydraulic tank for fluid level and foaming

Before I head home, if there is air in the line, what is the procedure for bleeding the hydraulic fluid, I am assuming basically the same a brakes for a car.

The system is self bleeding. If you have air it is caused by a loose fitting, bad o-ring, something like that on the suction side.

My 284 has a separate pump for the steering with a small reservoir in front of the radiator. The seals on the lines at the ram leak and every once in a while I get the same condition as you have, and top off the tank to fix.

Hmmm, I have a similar problem on my 354.  I will have to look for the small tank in front of the radiator.
