I have a question ,I have looked with no luck for info. on cutting threads on unthreaded rod with a die. With using a tap there is various drill sizes and what percentage of thread of you will have using one drill size to another in one same size thread,I have found nothing on using a die,is there a rule of thumb to determine what od window there is with dies? I hope I did not drive anyone crazy with this.

Good dies are usually adjustable. Start with the largest opening (screw backed out) and work your way in. This may take several evolutions depending on type of material. I remember once I had to make four 3' 3/4″ pieces of stainless all-thread. This was before all-thread was thought of. Never forgot that.
