Hello, I'm new here but hoping I can get some help. I have the same model PT-4 dozer, 1986, looks exactly like yours. I also have just recently tore this dozer apart because the left side steering clutch was slipping, when I opened the casing up the disks were coated in oil so I assumed it was a wet clutch, but now I am seeing your steering clutch disks appear completely dry. Can you tell me if the steering clutch disks were dry or coated in oil when you first opened it up. Also where have you been getting the parts for this tractor? I have been paying big money to have parts shipped from China and would be interested to know if anyone knows if parts are available in the US. I'm sure I will have more questions but just testing the waters. Thanks

These are dry clutches. They could be wet clutches if it wasn't for the type of brakes used, but such is not the case.
It should be noted that the same clutch packs are used in marine, forklift, and industrial hydraulic transmissions here in the US. Twin Disc and Borg Warner are two of the largest manufacturers.
Northern Tool, Circle-G Tractor, and Keno Tractor have dozer parts, as well as many others.

Steering and Brakes are dry. My steering clutchs are not worn one bit. It appears my systems was completely rusted together and I was using the brakes to steer and control the dozer. At least I won't need to buy new steering clutch pads at $45 U.S. each. Parts vendor I work with is Farmboy Tractors in Tennesee. They have had every part I needed.
Simeon, I have 400 hrs on the tach. Engine overhauled at 250 hrs, because it had sat idle for a long time before I bought it. It was not running so I got it cheap. Did you get a chance to scan the part book?
Weather here in Texas has been nice, so I have been doing other things
No progress on the dozer. When the winter weather gets here I will be working on it more.
