I was recently frustrated while servicing my NorTrac 3500 dozer, in that the oil filters I ordered for it didn’t come anywhere near to fitting it, and the other original Chinese fuel and air filters were somewhat pricey. Being that I’m working in Arizona, the air filter especially needs frequent cleaning and replacement. In any event, for what it’s worth, here are the filter equivalents I came up with for my dozer:
Oil Filter: MANN W735/1 or Fram PH6813. The WIX 51224 and NAPA 1224 filters are merely rebranded MANN filters. The MANN was on my crawler when I bought it, and its larger size should do a better job of filtering.
Fuel Filter: Original Chinese CX0710, interchangeable with Fram P4102A or WIX 33358.
Air Filter: This is trickier. The original Chinese filter is marked K2007, but nothing directly interchangeable is available. However, the Fram CA3307 and WIX 46210 are approximately the same size, but have open tops, where the K2007 has a metal plate over the top. I plan to disassemble this plate from my current filter when I need to change and use it to hold the filter in place, or simply cut an 8″ circle out of plywood. Beats spending $28.59 for a new Chinese filter! :yahoo:

I would advise installing an air filter restriction indicator because these are the only machines in the world that have the air filter positioned so that the cooling fan blows directly into it. Another issue that Yuchai is ignoring. If you are operating in very dusty conditions, check your filter daily. I would also advise against Fram air filters too – it’s been my experience that they channel easily. I simply relocated a Donaldson filter on mine to get it out of the engine compartment where it doesn’t belong.
It should also be noted that your oil filter will not fit all TY395 series engines. These engines are installed using either SAE or metric threaded filter heads. Adapters are available through Ranch Hand Supply to change the metric threads to SAE

Good idea. As I recall, the air filters on the old farm tractors I grew up driving all were located well above the hood, near the exhaust pipe. :good:
You’re probably also right about the MANN filter not fitting all 395 engines, but the filters Circle G sent me didn’t even come close. FWIW, the MANN filter has metric threads, was originally for a ’91 – ’94 Audi Quattro V8.

Today all Ag and construction equipment has the engine air intake well away from dust and dirt, as well as exhaust. Almost all have pre-cleaners too.

It’s an older model I got off of Ebay, but a more current model is available at SC.
