         That's what it's called around here. A law officer in the valley put this together:

            After three decades in law enforcement I've seen hundreds of examples of this.  Hey kids, wanna look older than you are?  Just take up crack or speed – ages you ten years in ten weeks or less.  You're right Bob, it is scary.

            I've seen a couple of crackheads that managed to get (and stay) straight after years of abuse and they got their looks back, too.  One of them went from an emaciated, acne-riddled, smelly street bum to a 220# maintenance worker who never misses a day of work – that was amazing.  Before he got straight I wouldn't have given him a year to live and now he looks like the poster boy for good nutrition.  It can be done.

              i luckly have not had to deal with the problem; so i may seem naive but i have mostly seen that most drug use starts as sort of a rebelion and then progresses from there;

              here in ky the state is trying to put sudifed back to where you have to have a dr. script  just to buy it;  they have already pulled it off the shelf and you have to sign your life away to get it from the druggest;  which instead of helping with the problem seems to have made it worst;

              it may not be a popular opinion but the more you make things illegal then the more of us become criminals;

              guns, seatbelts, smoking (tobacco) jaywalking, these are all things that are in the law or trying to be;  in ky here we don't have enough bed space for the voilent offenders; cause all of them are taken up with minor offences;

              when guns are outlawed then only outlaws will have guns;

                Growing up in Oakland I saw this up close years before it became a national problem. Lost a lot of friends to overdose, suicide, and murdered in drug deals gone bad. It's here in our neck of the woods now, just like it's infesting communities everywhere.yell

                  Is that Oakland, OR or Oakland, CA?

                    Oakland Ca. Last I checked Oakland Or. was a nice little town. I had a lot of good times growing up in Oakland Ca. Not any better or worse than any big city I figure, certainly not the hellhole it seems to have a reputation for.

                      Oakland Tech, Steele's Sporting Goods, Key system train probably all before your time. However, there were places you did not go at night.

                        I took my CHSPE (California High School Proficiency Exam) at Oakland Tech first year it was offered. 328 people took the test that day, all 12th graders except myself and a friend, both 14 years old. We were the only ones who passed. 95% of high school graduates in the state who took it failed. It has since been dumbed down several times, and you can purchase a book with the answersfrown

                         I don't remember the Key trains but rode a 10 speed to work from Lafayette to Walnut Creek on paved over Key train tracks.cool

                        When running a shop at Seminary and 55th one day some ass clown stuck a 45 to my head and threatened to blow my head off. He wasn't trying to rob me, just impressing his girlfriend. That's one of the places that can be dangerous at night, although I delivered Chinese food in that neighborhood for a night job!

                            That's no joke Tin.  I saw Charlie Sheen on TV this morning.  He said he had given up drugs but he looked and sounded like things were “enhanced” while he was talking.  He needs to end up marooned on an island alone for a long while.
