I think I will make a comparison of the draw of the manifold heater and the glow plugs next.
I'm going to hazard a guess: 3 x the manifold heater current. I'm very interested in your findings for the manifold heater current though.
Thanks for all the replies guys. It turns out you are all correct. I'm not a doctor but I play electrical engineer at work.
It depends on many things but chiefly: length, temperature rise, and acceptable voltage drop. In this case since it's not going to be operated for very long you can also throw in duty cycle.
18 gauge would do it but with little margin in my mind. Almost 2 watts dissipated in the wire itself. So something larger than that. It would mostly likely come down to what connectors will fit nicely.
I will post pictures of course as well as a bill of materials when I'm done. Don't hold your breath though. I gotta wait until I actually have the tractor back.
Wow…
I can't look at those pictures without hearing the sounds it must have made. Thanks for the pics.
I never experienced any problems until the site went down. But we do appreciate the hard work it takes nowadays to keep a site running.
Any chance you took pictures of that process? I for one would like to see a thread on that excitement.
If you have the floor mounted brake pedals I doubt it could be done. There is that extra linkage/pivot that would make it hard. If you have the pendulum pedals it might be possible. HOWEVER, I think you would have to bend the bands to get them in and around the hub. This would make them out of round and I believe you would get uneven wear and possibly a spongy pedal feel.

Nortrack had all the gaskets.
All my gaskets came out of a tube!
Not a clue and I'm not going to rush them. I do know he said he only had one clutch in stock so he has to order the other from China. He said it usually only takes a week or so. I'm not expecting anything for a long while. The frustrating part (among other things) is my property is really a 3-season cabin. The chance of getting it up there before next spring is rapidly dwindling. Actually as I think about it unless it doesn't rain in December there is no chance.
No worries. Personally I don't even have a dozer anyway.
Didn't realize this thread was here!
2002.5 engine (non-EPA I think.) Rubber tracks with a spare set of steel tracks. Shuttle clutch, pendulum pedals. Rankin 72″ BB30 box blade to boot.
thanks. It took a long time for me to warm up to Sketch-up. I'm an amateur SolidWorks user. Sketch-up has a long way to go but it's pretty functional.
