To add to what Tommy said:  You really do need all the manuals, not just the owner's manual.  The parts manual has breakdown diagrams that show what's what and give part numbers.  The engine manual covers the engine and is necessary since these tractors can be supplied with more than one particular engine.

Tommy is a great source of both parts and information, as are the guys at his shop.  Don't hesitate to call on them.  You'll be glad you did.

Thanks, Tinbender!  The thing I have to watch myself on is spending too much time looking over my shoulder, metaphorically speaking, waiting for something else to crop up.  It's a complete waste of time and anxiety, but damned hard to avoid after something like that.  Got to keep looking forward and enjoying the day for what it is.

Looking down and seeing grass is waaaay better than looking up and seeing dirt.

You may be in luck.  I believe Bob Rooks has a Yuchai 30hp.  He will have a manual (he's a real diesel mechanic), though he may not have it as a pdf file.  He'll probably reply shortly if he's not at sea or something.

Might be useful to know if it is a Yuchai, a Guillin, a Caterpillar or a Euclid – there are some noteworthy differences between them, after all.  Model? Size?

Congratulations, amigo!  I am all too aware of the feeling you're experiencing – one year ago I had just finished chemo and radiation for Stage 4 throat cancer that had metastasized into my lymph glands.  I was at the doc just today and he said all is well so far.

It's pretty damn good to just be alive, isn't it?

Solenoids don't go bad too often, but they do get dirty and lock up.  You might want to take your starter off and clean all aspects of it thoroughly before consigning it to the junk pile.

Me too, but I'm learning to like the Little Friskies…

Stick around, I think you'll find that your fifteen bucks was actually a very worthwhile investment in peace of mind, abstract information not available elsewhere and just plain fun.  Bob Rooks is incredibly knowledgeable about diesel mechanics across the whole spectrum form little Chinese tractors to whomping big ocean-going vessels and the other guys here have lots of knowledge about their respective tractors and other valuable minutia.  Tommy from Affordable Tractor Sales is a frequent adviser here and always has accurate information and is also a great parts resource, as are the other dealers how participate here.  Your membership fee is good for life (not just sure whose life), so you'll end up getting it back several times over in great advice if you stick around.  We ain't pretty , but we are pretty good guys in general.  Well, some of them are, anyway.roflmao

As I said, if you think $15 is too much money to support a site that provides a forum for owners to exchange information, then you obviously don't want to be par tof the community here.  I have no problem with that – we can't please everybody all the time.  But you should know that a site like this takes money and effort to maintain and I think it only fair that Hal gets some support from those who derive benefits from the site.  Fifteen bucks is less than dinner and a movie, after all.  If fifteen bucks means the difference between eating Little Friskies and tuna fish, then I'd say you really can't afford to own a tractor at all.  But that's just my opinion and does in no way reflect the opinion or policies of this site or its owner.  Personally, I think fifteen bucks is a bargain for all the knowledge I've gained from the members here over the years.  Your mileage, as they say, may vary.

Of course, it was here that you were referred to TBN where you found the guy I was referring to – you think that's worth nothing?  Tell you what – since the fifteen bucks is such a big deal to you, send me your address and I'll send you the fifteen bucks.  Then you won't have any reason to think you've been taken advantage of.  Fair enough?

Some people expect something for nothing and you just can't please them no matter what you do. If his beef is with $15 for manuals, he's living in a past era and if his beef is with the $15 to support this site, then he's not serious about being a part of the community here.  Either way, it's his choice and no skin off my nose.  hmmm
