You must pull the cover off. that has 8 bolts, once that complete assembly is out take it to a local auto parts store to unpress the bearing off.Yes they are serrated shank Sounds like you are going to need new studs and a bearing and gasket
We have all the parts you need.and the shop is open until noon today (I will be off)

Not sure whats going on there, but if you need it we have the complete 4 x 4 boxes with all the internal parts already installed, so you just have to swap it out.
You will prob, need to remove yours take the cover off the top and see whats going on inside, unless you just twisted axle shaft off which is possible

On the rear of Shaft # 2 is another coupler like # 3, that will compress a spring and allow the complete shaft to drop down, yes part 3- is where the balls are.
Once you expose the rear coupler, you will see that it will slide towards the front of the tractor and drop down

The collar to the left that you can see the spline on is what moves ,just the one on the back side of the shaft not the front ?? You do not need to take the bolts out of that part that you did. Go to the backside of the small splined shaft collapse the spring and the shaft will drop down back end first. The balls are inside of the smaller couplings that ride on the splined shaft
Look in your parts book it will show you where the ball bearings go

Yes they all have a governor that could malfunction but you should see if you can find a tractor repair shop to take a look at it.It could be something minor, send me a pic of your pump ,to see it I can see anything from looking at it

Sounds like it may be the timing then, I have not set the timing on one with the advancer on it, not sure how to do it.? Hopefully someone on here has and can help
I'm surprised that the fuel injection shop you went to could not help, these pumps are Bosch design, and we have had several people take them to injection shops, only to find they could buy a new pump for less than the cost to rebuild and re-calibrate the old pump would be.
In your case it seems like the pump is working, did you replace it ? how did the timing get off ?

Try, turning the valve on the sediment bowl only half open see if the reduced amount of fuel flow helps ???.

Still sounds like its starving for fuel, Did you take the sediment bowl completely off ? There is a screen on top of it inside the fuel tank ?, Also the bolt that holds the rubber fuel line to the bottom of the primer pump has a screen inside of bolt ? did you check it ?
