I agree with David. Sounds like your block heater on the truck isn’t working. What kind of truck is it? Some trucks do have glow plugs. My Ford Powerstroke does.

It would be interesting to compare your readings to a new mag pickup unit. The spec sheet I posted wasn’t for your mag pickup, just for a reference only. It’s possible your readings could be correct for your unit, and your readings could be different if you were connected to the tach. Another thing is that the signal could be stronger (voltage higher) if the pickup was closer to the flywheel (1/4, 1/2 turns out). Hope you check it again when you get the new tach. Good luck.

Just curious if there was any correlation to rpm on your meter. What scale did you use?

thanks Bob it makes sense it would be a A/C generator I was shocked (no pun) to see the voltage amounts it makes. It shows the gauges being in place while testing I will try without hopefully I will see something without the gauge load.

Note that one of the leads from the mag pickup will go to a ground on the back of the tach. You will need to use that for your meter. Should be the white one.

Just the fact that two pieces of brass fell out doesn’t bode well for the cluster. Anyway, you probably won’t get any reading from the pickup just sitting on the bench. Here is some guidelines that might help you.

I think he may be referring to the cup seals and wiper rings, and their placement on the pistons.

Great news! Circle G Tractor should have most of the parts you will need. Also, bearings and seals can be sourced locally by measurements/specimens through NAPA or your bearing house, or online.

My Mitsubishi mini-ex doesn’t even have one. It came from the factory with an electric fuel pump. Works great.

OK, just never seen a priming pump like this. It is screwed all the way down with spring compressed, it takes about 10-15 turns ccw and then the plug and spring comes out in your hand as it unthreads it moves up about a inch and spring uncompresses before the spring and plug/knob pops out, you can’t pump it like a normal priming lever

It should not come out in your hand! If it does, it’s broken. It should unscrew until it pops up, and when it does you push it back down without turning it, and begin pumping it up and down. When you are finished priming, push the knob back down and turn it clockwise to lock it. The CAV lift pumps have a lever. Not all diesel engines use a CAV lift pump. The type of lift pump you have is more common and is integral with the fuel injection pump, just like all Bosch pumps.
