Sounds to me like a hydraulic lock, for reasons unbeknownst to me. You don't want those seals to have any “nicks” at all – oil under pressure will by-pass.

Well they can only ask me to build a smaller garage, or none at all. The leveled site is benched into a slope and compacted fill on the downslope. I can always just throw up a big tent.

Totally agree
Is that a skreed board pivoting around the center point for the pool? Nice job!
Beautiful job on that garden – what are you using for the fence and is it working?
I see #1 daughter and Mrs. Tinbender are happy, and that's a very good thing.

Curious how they get 45 HP ot of the three cylinder engine without turbo unless it's a much different engine?
Notice the pressure regulating valve (banjo bolt) on the front of the fuel injection pump, whose name has been a bone of contention, and has also been installed in the wrong location from the factory.

Excellent! Glad you fixed it. Do as Carl says, and don't leave that bolt rolling around down there.

Hi Jeff, welcome.
You have a picture of the fuel injection pump/governor assembly. The dipstick is actually in the governor section but the sumps are common (FYI). SAE 30 non-detergent motor oil will work well in it, and be sure to check it prior to every daily start. There are no seals in the individual injector pumps as they are lap-fit and can wear rapidly with dirty fuel because fuel is the only lubrication that they get.
Do the 454's have three cylinder engines?

June 15, 2011 at 11:28 am in reply to: Oh crap… cleaned out fuel system… rough starting. Is it the timing? #32585You must even treat the fresh fuel with a biocide for awhile, even if you thoroughly clean the fuel system. The bugs are quite tenacious, and they even feed off of their own dead bugs.
So how did timing become an issue? What did you take apart? There is/was no need to dissasemble the fuel injection pump.

I just copy the URL from the address bar. Oh well, at least you got it working

Grizz,
Copy and paste the URL into “File/URL” then click the window to preview (optional), then click “Insert”, then click “Post New Reply”. Easy after you've done it a few times.
Those were some nice action shots of the D6. Remember that the cg of the dozer is low and approximately at the center of the swing frames. He's a good cat skinner, and really knows his machine well. No doubt he was laughing as you puckered.

I doubt if it's carbon on the exhaust valve if you run it at governed speed much. Most likely fuel deposits on the intake valve.
