Yep, don't know of anyone that does it anymore, I wouldn't bother with it. For all the trouble it would take, I'd just take the head to an automotive machine shop and have them do a three-angle grind and forget about it.

How do you like those engines?

Carbon and soot are the Nemesis of diesel engines but are inherent to their operation.
Your engine doesn't look bad at all, you can expect some. Wish the pics were lighter to reveal if liner cross hatching is present or they are glazed, which contributes to blow-by.
Several things can cause excessive carbon build up: Low operating temperature, late injector timing, dirty air cleaner, and faulty injectors. To name a few.
I think I understand what you mean by “lapping”. You are referring to valve “overlap” which is controlled by the camshaft grind. There is nothing you can do about it, it's engineered into the design.

That's some awesome property Grizz .
Some of those roads look like old fire trails .
I'm really looking forward to seeing your videos .
If you'll be maintaining those roads with the Yuchai, I suggest you mount a couple of “jerry cans” to the rear of the saddlebags. I was looking to do that with mine to pack some extra fuel around, they will fit perfectly.

Agreed. One of the other problems is that the pistons and rings were run without oil, and the camshaft and rockers, although rockers and pushrods are pretty forgiving. Generally. Short block if the cam & crank are toast maybe.

I'm beginning to feel ill for Tony…
Tommy and Ronald carry replacement engines.

Speaking of the “color and weight of the oil looked the same”, here is a debunking video I made awhile back using a viscosity comparator.

Hammond's Bio-Bor JF, Power Service Bio-Kleen, and Lucas Bio Medic, to name a few. Hammond's is available at marine and aviation outlets and Power Service and Lucas are available at most auto parts stores and NAPA, or online.
If you store your fuel in bulk then I suggest you check it with the Hum Bug test kit right away.

$1,000.00 is a very reasonable price for a professionally built trailer IMHO.
I see that it's an older model in that it's lacking the red & white conspicuity reflectors. No biggie in my book, you can always add them if you want.

Tin, that is a very nice looking trailer. Is it a 10,000 Lb. GVW?
