Somewhere there is a thread by Bluenoser about his transom mod and longer cylinders.
But sisnce the OP may no longer be interested, I'd say we're

Both types are sold by Dalton.
The red (lower) one has pilot operated check valves which, as Hal stated (), will only move when source pressure is applied from the control valve. They are generally used where there is spool leak-by in a worn control valve, or a pre-set must be maintained where a control valve cannot be relied upon.
The black (upper one) has a swivel eye extension on the standing part which allows the cylinder barrel to clear mounting clevises or gudgeons.
The best one (not shown) would incorporate both of the above.

This is why there are such things as coolant filters. These are standard equipment on larger machines. It's the red filter on the left. Casting sand has long been the nemesis of engine manufacturers; it can eat away cylinder liners, carry away coolant pump impellers, destroy coolant pump seals and shafts, plus it displaces coolant and creates cavitation which causes erosion and hot spots. The list goes on and on and on…

if it were the liners wouldn't that mean white smoke from stack?
Nope. White smoke is unburned fuel from incomplete combustion caused by a “cold” flame front (cold combustion chamber). Sometimes accompanied by condensation, and dependent on ambient temperatures and humidity. Will go away usually in under a minute at idle.

Thanks Carl, you have put my mind at ease

The local Shucks store used to rent tools. Now that they have been bought out by O'Reileys who knows?
At the two local Schuck's/O'Reilly's stores I go to, nothing has changed (so far) except the merchandising layout and more store branded stuff.

I prey that it is the bolts not torqed enough or left over coolant and not block!!!!!!
Most likely cylinder liners, not the block. If you are real lucky, just the liner O-ring seals.

Carl,
Is there a GVW plate on the trailer anywhere? What does the title/registration say the GVW is. You will need this number to subtract the actual trailer weight from to give you your load carrying capacity. If it was home-built, you are taking chances, and are on your own unless a GVW was calculated and assigned to it.
Good luck
Just saw the pic. 5-lug wheels and a very light looking frame.
I'm older than you are and it's exciting to learn new tricks.

If you have a tool rental store nearby they should have the complete test kit.
